GOLDEN GROUP COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Golden Group Cooperative in upholding its commitment to its members¸ do hereby creates an Educational Assistance Program that would not only promote economic development among its members but creates an awareness in the importance of education as a tool for the upliftment of their financial and social status. In the spirit of cooperativism¸ the Golden Group undertakes the launching of said Educational Assistance Program which is envisioned to benefit our bonafide employees and children of our members.

  1. INTIAL SCOPE

This program is open to the following as its main beneficiaries:

    1. All permanent employees of Golden Group Cooperative during the time of application.
    2. Children of regular members of Golden Group Cooperative who are of good credit standing.

11. FUNDING

Golden Group Coop is the main benefactor of this program and will allocate a portion of their net income yearly to ensure the continuity of this project. Each student/scholar will be awarded Php 10¸000.00 each per semester for a maximum of 8 semesters or 4 years. The scholar may apply for an additional financial assistance for summer classes only in cases his/her course requires for it as in the case of medical courses (nursing)¸ the amount of which will not exceed Php 5¸000.00.

111. SELECTION BOARD

An Educational Assistance Committee headed by Dir. Fr. Homer Policarpio as the chairman with Dirs. Jesse Quiwa and Maridel Calma from the present board¸ as its members. All OICs of branches with our internal auditor Theresa Mallari will complete the committee and will help in the selection process. Said committee is task to undertake all the screening and final selection of qualified applicants.

IV. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees

a. Must be a regular/permanent employee and must have served the Coop. for the past 12 months.

b Must not had a major violation of the current Personnel Policy as

being imposed by the Coop.

c. He/she may enroll at any colleges/universities of his/her choice.

d. He/she may pursue a college course or pursue a masteral degree.

e. He/she must not have a grade lower that 83%.

2. Children of Members

a. Must be a high school graduate or a candidate for graduation from high school.

b. Must have a general average of 83% and above.

c. Combined gross annual income of parents must not exceed Php 150¸000.00.

d. Must be of good moral character as certified by the school where he/she graduated.

e. Member/parent should be of good credit standing and has been a regular member of the coop. for not less than 2 years.

V. BENEFITS

The package of financial assistance to scholar/s per semester is Php 10¸000.00 which is given/paid by means of a check made payable to the scholar every start of registration for each semester. The scholar should claim said check in person at the main office of Golden Group Coop at the New Public Market City of San Fernando.

VI. SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS

1. The scholar has to fill up an application form on the branch where his/her parent maintains an account.

2. It is the duty of the branch OIC to evaluate and conduct the preliminary interview of applicants. The branch OIC will choose among the applicants 3 qualified applicants who will face the Selection Board for the final interview and selection of a qualified scholar.

3. Qualified scholars are obliged to submit a photo copy of their registration form to the Committee as a proof that he is officially enrolled for that school year.

4. The scholar shall carry a full semestral load as prescribed in the course curriculum and should finish within the normal duration of the course.

5. Except for meritorious reasons¸ no scholar shall be allowed to defer enrollment during the semester.

6. The scholar shall maintain satisfactory academic performance in accordance with the policies and standards of the school.

7. The employee scholar must be a regular permanent employee of the Coop during the time he/she is availing said scholarship. He/she may work in other institutions after finishing his/her studies but he/she is held responsible to promote the Coop to others.

8. Should the scholar fails to meet the requirements needed to maintain his/her scholarship¸ the selection board may choose to fill in vacant slot from among those who failed to qualify in previous screenings.

9. Only 1 child of a member may avail said educational assistance at any given time to give others the chance to avail such benefit.

10. A scholar may enroll at a college or university of his/her choice. He/she may also have the liberty to choose a two or four year course in college.

11. Educational assistance is also automatically terminated if the member/parent becomes delinquent in paying his loan with the Coop or his/her account becomes past due.

12. The scholar must be single and physically fit to face the demands of his/her college education.

13. The scholar should pass the qualifying entrance exam of the school in which he/she intends to enroll.

14. The scholar should also pass the final interview of the screening committee.

V11. DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS:

For incoming freshmen:

  1. Form 138 photocopy and certified true copy by the school principal or registrar.
  2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the high school principal or Guidance Councilor.
  3. An endorsement letter from the branch OIC that he/she has passed the required preliminary interview and initial screening.

For re-enrolment of current scholars

1. A photocopy of final grades (class cards) or a copy of grades issued by the college/university registrar.

2. A certification/endorsement by the branch OIC that the member-parent is stillof good credit standing.
